18 1976-7 SACRED VISIONS: A Portable Museum of Sacred Art, Part 2 [Commissioned by Shambhala, but not published. Model for SACRED VISIONS, 1991-92].

NOTE: After leaving FAMSF early in 1976 FLG began work on a commission from Shambhala Publications to write a book on sacred symbols. The books available had few images and little feeling for how the symbols of World Religions relate to the rest of culture. The purpose of this book was to solve both problems. The project took most of FLG’s time for the next 2 ½ years. It involved constructing a systematic history of world art. The project ended when Sam Burkholtz & FLG could not agree on editorial issues. However, this gathering and focusing on the large issues laid the groundwork for the large study guide, SACRED VISIONS (vol.1 1991 & vol.2 1992), and for all the classes FLG began teaching on World Religions, World Art, and Sacred World Art.
